This recipe is way better than any takeout and can be made in 45 minutes (you can make it in less time if you make the pineapple teriyaki sauce ahead of time). That makes this a great weeknight meal option for busy nights but can also be enjoyed over the weekend with family and friends.

Serve it over rice with some vegetables, and you will have a complete meal. The crispy steak tips are smothered in a homemade sweet pineapple teriyaki marinade that is finger-licking good!

Recipe Variations

  • If Pineapple is not desired, it can be omitted from the recipe for a more traditional Teriyaki Sauce.
  • Some people like to serve steak tips larger instead of bite-sized, this is fine too but you will need to increase the cooking time.
  • You don't have to use reduced-sodium soy sauce, but it gives you a lot more control over the flavor since soy sauce can be really salty.

Storage & Reheating Tips

SERVE:You can keep these out for about an hour before they will need to be refrigerated.

STORE: Store leftover pineapple teriyaki sauce in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Keep the steak tips in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.

FREEZE: You can freeze both the pineapple teriyaki sauce and the steak tips. I suggest you freeze them separately. Place the sauce and steak in separate freezer-safe containers or Ziploc bags and freeze for up to 2 months.

REHEAT SAUCE: Thaw the sauce in the refrigerator overnight or at room temperature for about an hour. Heat it in small saucepan over medium heat until heated through, about 3-4 minutes.

REHEAT STEAK TIPS: Place the steak in a medium skillet over medium heat and heat until warmed, about 5-8 minutes.

Recipe FAQ's

What goes well with teriyaki steak?

Serve these Teriyaki Steak Tips over rice, noodles, or even in lettuce as lettuce wraps. My coconut rice recipe would be delicious served with this dish.

How do you make steak tips tender?

Make sure you cook the meat to the correct internal temperature. Overcooking results in dry, tough meat. You can also use a meat mallet to tenderize the meat before cooking it physically. This can help break down some of those tough muscle fibers within the meat.
