There's something poetic nigh Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pure Shine Sheer Lipstick in Pink Lychee ($xxx) — how pretty yet fleeting it is, like butterflies, or a summertime tan.

Past all appearances…

It'south one of two express edition SPF 15 Pure Smooth Lipsticks YSL released with their summertime 2010 drove, the other being Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pure Shine Sheer Lipstick in Blood Orange Claret Orange.

The first thing I idea after seeing it in the tube? — wow, that sure looks pale. I didn't think I'd be able to wearable it, but I've been surprised so many times before that I figured, who knows, right?

I really didn't know what to expect and hoped it wouldn't have that p0rn star opaque coverage we've seen from other low-cal pink lippies.

Starting time, the good news: it doesn't. This blueish-based pinkish goes on extremely sheer, and it'south almost transparent. The first layer is barely visible, like a wet ruddy bloom petal, fifty-fifty under close inspection.

Now, the not-so-good news: article of clothing fourth dimension. It's downright embarrassing. I get maybe 30 minutes from information technology, tops, and that's being witting of it on my lips (aka sitting quietly, taking up infinite, refraining from eating or drinking anything).

With all that said, despite how cursory it lasts and how much it costs ($30, ouch!), I still think it'due south kinda cool, and it has a few other things going for it…

Texture, scent and gustatory modality

Texture wise, Pink Lychee feels great, thanks to a hydrating formula similar to MAC Glaze Lipstick. It'southward smoothen, sparse, feels light, and when I rub my lips together with it on they simply glide back and forth — no resistance at all.

Plus, I like the scent, which reminds me of Granny Smith apples, and added SPF 15. Information technology seems like a level of protection that actually might make a difference, compared to lippies with SPF 5 or lower. Nice! 🙂

An interesting twist

There's also a footling more than meets the eye virtually Pinkish Lychee. It does something I didn't expect, flashing orange and gilded in the light. Unfortch, this subtle iridescence doesn't reproduce well in pictures (I tried to capture it!), but I kept seeing information technology in front of the mirror. I call up it's a cool unexpected twist that saves Pink Lychee from a less encouraging fate.

I kickoff idea Pink Lychee might be a color that just libation-skinned girls would exist able to wear, simply in a weird way I recall the iridescence helps to residue the blueish tones in the pink enough to make the color pretty wear for anybody.

Hello, fingerprints!

Packaging fiends, if you're a stickler almost fingerprints messing up your makeup, have heed: the gold lipstick cap shows every piffling mark.

Dang, if this would just terminal a little longer and toll one-half as much, I'd exist singing its praises from rooftops! It'south a fun, interesting lipstick, dressed to kill in pinnacle-tier packaging. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B
